Maya Angelou - An Inspiring Woman

maya angelou quote

I have to say that hearing about this inspirational woman passing away really was sad. I may have never known Maya Angelou personally but like most I connect with her through her writing, her voice and her strengthening inspiration. All that she went through in life, all her struggles that brought her huge opportunities to her. The poem I am going to share is the one I fell in love with from the movie Tyler Perry's Family Reunion called In and Out Of Time and after some searching I found it on Google. It looks like I wasn't the only one searching for this poem. I thought I would share this with you in case you haven't heard it.

In and Out Of Time - Maya Angelou

The sun has come.
The mist has gone.
We see in the distance…
our long way home.
I was always yours to have.
You were always mine.

We have loved each other in and out of time.

When the first stone looked up at the blazing sun
and the first tree struggled up from the forest floor
I had always loved you more.
You freed your braids…
gave your hair to the breeze.
It hummed like a hive of honey bees.
I reached in the mass for the sweet honey comb there….
Mmmm…God how I love your hair.

You saw me bludgeoned by circumstance.
Lost, injured, hurt by chance.
I screamed to the heavens….loudly screamed….
Trying to change our nightmares into dreams…

The sun has come.
The mist has gone.
We see in the distance our long way home.
I was always yours to have.
You were always mine.
We have loved each other in and out
in and out
in and out
of time.

Her life story on OWN's Master Class inspired me and over all brought smiles to my face. I knew she was incredible but hearing more about her and the way she sees life is just amazing. If you haven't seen it, here is a few clips that I found on Youtube. (These are not my own just found them and sharing them with you.)

This last clip inspired me to create this on PicMonkey with my picture that I had take of the clouds outside on my balcony. This is one of my favourite quotes from her.

I think what she said can help anyone. We all have had rainbows in our clouds and when we look for a way to find that rainbow from going above, below or straight through that cloud we will find a rainbow. It is such a fantastic way of seeing things and life and that has stuck with me and I believe it will always will. I hope I have been a rainbow in someone else's cloud and I hope you will continue as well.

I hope you have some time, I would love to hear from you. Leave a comment to say how much you enjoyed my post or even say hi, follow me on Twitter, like my Facebook page or  even subscribe. I will do the same! Have a wonderful creative day!
