IKEA HACK: Spice Rack to TV Stand

ikea hack spice rack to tv stand

I love my new TV stand. It was easy to make and construct because I am using an IKEA spice rack. I have seen this spice rack as a bookshelf, nail polish holder and more. What I used mine for is to hold my TV. I originally sketched my idea for what I wanted and soon notice that the spice rack fit what I was looking for. I need space for my electronics underneath my TV because it was not working out well with the devices behind or beside the TV. It was looking very unorganized. I thought it would be nice to have two spice racks next to each other and the devices underneath, but the length would have been way too long for the top of my dresser. Although that threw off my plan a bit, having two spice racks worked out better.

This is what it looks like. It had a very light sandy colour. You will need to put together the spice rack but make sure to exclude the stick that is supposed to be in there.

Next you will need to place some painter's tape. I didn't have any so I used wishi tape to cover the metal part.

When you have finished covering the metal sections of the rack  then place it somewhere you are able to spray paint.

Next, pick your paint spray. I went with Ocean Breeze from Krylon. It was on sale for $4.99.
You can also buy it on Amazon here: Krylon Blue Ocean Breeze 5 Ball Decorator Aerosol Paint

I used cardboard boxes as a shield since I was on the balcony and wore a mask for protection.

It says on the can that it take up to 10 seconds for it to dry and it was right.
I had this up in my room with TV on top in no time.

It is an excellent addition to my book/ TV area.
