Pantry Section Progress

pantry section ideas pinterest

What I can say about this pantry section progress so far is that it is tiring me out lol. I feel a little over worked and that is all because I have been over working myself. Three trips to IKEA in total! Two in one day, then helping to build this pantry... it was a long day and then next day I found myself going back to IKEA. I am so serious when I say I should live there or work there. Here is what has been having so far.

We cleared the old pantry and other things that where stored here so that we had a clean slate.

Then it was time to build. Even though the product finder at IKEA told me that it was going to be two boxes. I was still shocked to see how big the boxes were and bringing it up in our building was very interesting. Good thing we had a helping hand.

The last trip that I did at IKEA was to buy myself a well needed drill. Honestly, building these things by hand is getting a little time consuming and tiring so a drill sped things up and before I knew it, the wardrobe was almost completed. If I had not bought the drill, I am not sure how long I would have been on the floor working on this wardrobe, thank you drill!

After placing the shelves on the right side and adding on the doors, it was time to get started on the larger side of the new pantry. Since this product was not originally a pantry, it arrived with a rod attachment but I bought KOMPLEMENT shelves to put there instead. The only thing about the shelves was that you needed to cut the shelves to size. I needed a saw and was tired of having to inconvenience someone to borrow theirs so I took the plunge and finally bought my own. A Black and Decker one was on sale at Canadian Tire.

The shelves got cut on my balcony (sorry neighbors) and was sanded with my new Black and Decker sander (that I bought used at Amazon) but because we cut one side of the shelves it was now missing the holes needed to stay up. Therefore I needed to drill in the holes in order for the shelves to be able to stay in the pantry. I did this four times.

I accidentally bought four shelves when I was going to buy three to match the other side, however this accident ended up working in my benefit. More shelving means more space to put things on it.

This part wasn't in my plan but when I saw it at Micheal's I thought it would be a perfect addition. I bought this Recollections handmade paper for $16.00.

How am I going to put this paper up on the back of the pantry? Well I thought about it and wasn't a 100% sure on what I was going to do but I knew that I did not want it to be a permanent (in case I wanted to change my mind later). I chose to use self adhesive wall mount squares and place them at each end of the handmade paper. Gently I placed it onto the back wall of the pantry.

Only thing left after that was to re-add the shelves.

Well after all of this building comes more shopping. I am tired but all the hard work is done and now in the beginning stages of the decorating starts woohoo!

I hope you have some time, I would love to hear from you. Leave a comment to say how much you enjoyed my post or even say hi, follow me on TwitterFacebookGoogle+PinterestInstagram page or even subscribe. I will do the same! Have a wonderful creative week!
